PALMER DRY NEEDLE
DRY NEEDLING

Dry needling is a technique utilized by Physical Therapists for the treatment of pain and movement impairments. It is referred to as “dry” because it is performed without medications or injections while the needle is inserted through the skin in to various areas of the muscle being treated.

The needle is inserted in to trigger points in a muscle to relieve pain, improve range of motion, and normalize dysfunctions in the motor end plates (the sites at which nerve impulses are transmitted to muscles).

A trigger point is a taut band of skeletal muscle located with in a larger muscle group. Trigger points can be tender to touch and can cause pain to other areas of the body.

Benefits of Dry Needling:

  • Relief of pain

  • Increased range of motion
